Under this motto the Wilhelma will open its gates from 15 November 2018 to 6 January 2019 for a very special walk in the Christmas Garden Stuttgart. Contemplativeness in grand style! The Wilhelma will be transformed during this winter into an illuminated fairy-tale setting with breath-taking plays of light in the former royal park, impressively staged Moorish architecture and illuminated characters.
As opposed to the general hustle and bustle of the Christmas period, the Christmas Garden Stuttgart invites to take your breath and enjoy the true thrill of anticipation of Christmas Eve calmly. Families, friends and romanticists can spend a wonderful and contemplative evening in a magical setting full of discoveries.
On an approximately two-kilometre long trail the itinerary passes by 25 individual light installations, embedded into the diverse nature of the Wilhelma and marked by a unique Christmas atmosphere.
The Christmas Garden Stuttgart is a wintry oasis, in which families, children, friends and romanticists can experience true pre-Christmas atmosphere and a contemplative mood. As opposed to the many crowded Christmas markets, the Christmas Garden Stuttgart invites you to take your breath and enjoy on easily walkable paths and calmly the true thrill of anticipation of Christmas.
The Wilhelma is perfectly suited with its spaciousness and unique architecture to carry off the visitors to an easy going, fairy-tale world. The light designer team will impressively stage highlights such as the Damascene Hall or the Moorish Villa with projections and sparkling chains of light. The compounds of some of the animal inhabitants, for instance those of the jackass penguins, will be included into the Christmas wonderworld.
Elaborately designed festive motives narrate stories of reindeers, angels or Santa Claus and do not only make children’s eyes shine. Based on time slots allocated in advance when buying the tickets, we allow every visitor a contemplative walk without stress and hectic rush.
