Questions and answers about the Christmas Garden Karlsruhe
Tickets
Children up to the age of 5 are admitted to the Christmas Garden free of charge. Children aged 6 and over require a ticket, which can be booked in our ticket store.
Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
Yes, we offer two voucher options - which you can purchase via the ticket page - to make your loved ones happy:
- FlexTicket as a gift: the recipient can visit the Christmas Garden on any day within the opening hours without having to commit to a specific date in advance.
-Value voucher as a gift: With a value voucher from our partner myticket.de, you give the gift of freedom to redeem the voucher for various events, including the Christmas Garden.
Yes, we offer discounts for the following visitor groups and tickets:
- Pupils, students and senior citizens aged 65 and over
Reduced admission from Monday to Thursday (except on public holidays and between December 20 and January 6). The discount can only be granted on presentation of appropriate ID at the entrance.
- Families
Reduced admission (up to 54% discount*) on Family Day (December 04 and 11)
Reduced admission (up to 37% discount*) with the family ticket
Up to 5 people can visit the Christmas Garden on Family Day or with the Family Ticket:
(a) 2 adults and up to 3 children aged 6 to 14 inclusive
b) 1 adult and up to 4 children aged 6 to 14 years inclusive
* compared to the purchase of individual tickets
- Children
Children up to and including 5 years receive free admission to the Christmas Garden.
- Guests with disabilities
All guests who are dependent on an accompanying person (mark "B" in the severely disabled person's pass) can take the accompanying person with them free of charge.
- Annual pass holders of the Zoologischer Stadtgarten
Holders of a Zoologischer Stadtgarten annual pass receive a 10% discount on tickets for adults, children, schoolchildren, students and senior citizens aged 65 and over.
Discounts and reductions cannot be combined.
Up to a group size of 20 people, you can book your tickets via our ticket page. For groups of 21 people or more, please send us a request, which you can also submit via our ticket page.
Yes, tickets are also available at the box office. We recommend purchasing tickets in advance for a lower price, as popular time slots may be sold out and there may be waiting times. The box office on site is open from 17:00 to 21:00.

Yes, mobile tickets and Print@home tickets can be shown on a cell phone. It is not necessary to print out the tickets.
No. Tickets cannot be replaced or reprinted if lost. The return of tickets is also excluded. According to § 312g paragraph 2 sentence 1 no. 9 BGB, there is no right of withdrawal when purchasing tickets, despite the basic existence of a distance selling transaction. This means that the two-week right of withdrawal and return is completely excluded when purchasing tickets.
If no more tickets are available online for an admission window, it is sold out and no more tickets are available at the box office. We recommend purchasing tickets at a lower price in advance in our ticket store.
There are three price categories: Monday to Thursday, Friday to Sunday and the period around Christmas/New Year. You can find the corresponding prices in the ticket store on our website.
Information on payment methods can be found on the website of our ticket provider myticket.de. You can pay at the box office with cash, EC card or credit card.
Vouchers can be issued with an individual voucher value (from €1.00) and personalized with a dedication.
Vouchers can be redeemed directly at the Christmas Garden box office, but only on condition that tickets are still available for the desired day and admission window.
We recommend redeeming the voucher for tickets online in our ticket store before your visit to the Christmas Garden. Additional payments are possible. Any remaining credit on the vouchers can of course be used for other events at myticket.de.
Directions & opening hours
No. Public transport is not included in the Christmas Garden ticket.

In order to provide all guests with an atmospheric experience, the admission time is staggered per 30 minutes. The admission time is stated on your ticket. Please pass the entrance within the specified half hour. Example: If you have purchased a ticket for 17:30, you can enter between 17:30 and 18:00. Of course you can stay longer than 30 minutes in the Christmas Garden.

General information
There are currently fraudulent competitions circulating on social media that are allegedly organized in the name of Christmas Garden. Please note that we are in no way associated with these competitions. You will never be asked for confidential information such as bank details or telephone numbers in official competitions. To make sure you are entering a genuine Christmas Garden competition, please check that it has been published directly on our official channels. Stay vigilant and protect your data!
Yes, you may bring a pram/stroller.
Yes, if you have a Karlsruhe Pass, you will receive a 50% discount when purchasing tickets at the Christmas Garden box office (excluding family and FlexTickets). Discounts and reductions cannot be combined.
If you have lost something in the Christmas Garden, please send us an e-mail with a description of the lost item.
Yes, the Christmas Garden takes place whatever the weather - even if it rains. Please be aware of this before purchasing a ticket. Tickets cannot be returned due to bad weather unless there is an acute risk to our guests.

You are cordially invited to photograph our installations. Of course, you are welcome to bring a tripod. We would be delighted if you would capture the special atmosphere of the Christmas Garden and share your impressions with us on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Facebook under #christmasgarden. Please understand that for safety reasons, photography with drones is not permitted. Photographs and films may only be taken at our event for private purposes. Recordings for commercial purposes are not permitted.
No. The animal enclosures are not part of the Christmas Gardens and remain closed in the evening. They can be visited during their regular opening hours.
No. Bicycles, sledges, balance bikes and other children's vehicles may not be taken onto the Christmas Garden grounds for safety reasons.
No. Please understand that dogs (even if they are on a lead) and other animals are not allowed in the Christmas Garden. Officially registered assistance dogs (guide dogs etc.) are of course excluded.
No. Day and annual tickets for the Zoologischer Stadtgarten are not valid, as the Christmas Garden is an event that takes place in the evening hours of the Stadtgarten.
If you have an annual pass for the Zoologischer Stadtgarten, you will receive a 10% discount when purchasing tickets at the Christmas Garden box office. Please present proof of this.

The Christmas Garden is an open-air event and the winter evenings can get very cold. We therefore recommend that you wear warm, weatherproof clothing and sturdy shoes. Please also bring an umbrella if necessary.
We are meeting the increased security requirements of recent years with increased security personnel and a professional admission organization, taking into account current standards. To ensure speedy admission, we kindly ask you not to bring large bags.
No. All animal houses are closed in the evening. The zoo inhabitants, whose enclosures are located along the circular route, are not affected by the event or the visitors. Photography with flash is not permitted in the animal enclosures.

Guests with disabilities
Yes, there are barrier-free toilets on the premises.
Visitors with a disabled person's pass (mark B) can take an accompanying person into the Christmas Garden free of charge. However, children and adults with disabilities require a regular ticket. The accompanying person does not need their own ticket, but can pass through the entrance with the person they are accompanying. Unfortunately, we cannot offer any discounts for guests with disabilities who do not have the B mark.
Adult visitors with disabilities require an adult ticket. Children with disabilities require a ticket for children. On presentation of a disabled person's pass (mark B), an accompanying person receives free admission to the Christmas Garden. The accompanying person does not need their own ticket. They can pass through the entrance with the person they are accompanying. Unfortunately, we cannot offer any discounts for guests with disabilities who do not have the B mark.
There are barrier-free paths for visitors with wheelchairs or baby carriages, but the natural conditions on site can still be a challenge.
No. Unfortunately there are no wheelchairs available to borrow.
