Two years ago the Christmas Garden opened its doors for the first time in the Botanic Garden!
As opposed to the many crowded Christmas markets, the Christmas Garden invites to take a breath and enjoy the true anticipation of Christmas Eve calmly. Families, friends and romanticists can spend a wonderful and contemplative evening in an enchanting setting full of discoveries. The Christmas Garden one of the most popular destinations during Christmas time in Berlin for families and kids.
By the way, we source 100% of the power for the more than 1,500,000 light points at the Christmas Garden from renewable energies.
This year the about two-kilometre long trail boasts even more fascinating light installations. Over 25 sparkling illuminations create a magical atmosphere. Some highlights can already be unveiled: at the “Field of Lights” you amble along a blaze of lights in which innumerable light points are dancing. An enchantingly lighted “Wish Tree” spreads its branches and invites visitors to write down big and small wishes and attach them to the tree – and since it is well known that miracles happen at Christmas, there is no harm in believing in the fulfilment of the wishes!
The favourite of the public during the last years is of course maintained: the legendary more than 100-year-old weeping beech will again be turned into a shiny fairy beech. This winter, too, visitors can look forward to the enchanting atmosphere of the America Lake which will be prominently staged with even more impressive lights than last year.
As for Christmas at Kew, there will for the first time be a grand final at the end of the trail which immerses the overall appearance of the great tropical house and the Italian garden into an impressive staging.
Elaborately designed festive motives narrate stories of reindeers, angels or Santa Claus and do not only make children’s eyes shine. Based on time slots allocated in advance when buying the tickets, we allow every visitor a contemplative walk without stress and hectic rush.
